Groove tube mic body help (MDB1)

Alright i have a body just like the one below.
Problem is that i dont have the grill assembly...so im trying to fugure it out how to build something for grill.
Problem is that grill and is separate from head basket.
My solution is maybe cutting the body in 2 pieces and make the upper part as a head basket and put a grill??
Any idea or solutions people??

Make the grill, slip it in, electronics go in from the bottom. I don't see the point in cutting a separate headbasket. Look for the microphone META, lots of solutions there.

The Austin DIY ribbon mic looks to be of a similar design. The Gyraf G7 as well. These are documented builds which could have applicable construction instructions. A search for these would also show where to get wire mesh.
