hello mike!
order arrived today ;D
am also interested on the meters vintage style!!!
thank you
dingo.

Quick question: I'm building a dual 1176 rotary style and am paying some attention to the link-mode. I'm already using low tolerance parts as much as I can (1% metal oxide resistors, 2,5% and 5% film capacitors). I know the matched FETs you sell are to have the meter displaying the audio levels accurately; does it pay off to have the left and right channels matched as well (or even instead, if less attention is given to the metering)? I didn't do any matching with the used transistors, I'm simply to n00b to know how.

Or put in a different way: how much difference can one expect if two pair of your matched pair FETs are used in the left and right channel of a linked 1176 (Gyraf boards - pair 1 on left board and pair 2 on right board)?

Thanks,  Alex.

The all the FETs I sell fit within a certain approved "curve".  When used in conjunction with the stereo link kit you should see stereo linking within 1db down 10db of gain reduction.  I would not recommend using them with the "pad 7" direct link method.

Thanks Dan!  Hopefully they do your beautiful cases justice.  :)

3837 input transformers are back in stock.  There are only 25 but more are coming in a couple weeks.  The delivery dates on the enclosures got flipped, so the blackface enclosures (and bundles) are now in stock.  Blue stripes next week!

Thanks,

Mike

Can't seem to find the answer.

Do Hairball's 1176 VU meters fit Purusha cases?

Thanks

Hi All,

New product - Blue illuminated pushbutton switches.

Also the CM-2511 now has a configurable PCB designed by MNATS.  Jumpers are used to select the series or parallel primary.

Mike, does the 1166-500 have any mounting holes or hardware?

Hi,

Yes it has mounting holes but no hardware is provided.  You can see the holes on the datasheet:
http://hairballaudio.com/docs/1166/1166-500.pdf

2 X 0.14"

A #6 machine screw will fit nicely.  It'll need to be long enough to clear the transformer (0.66"), the material you mount it to (PCB?) and have enough for a nut to attach to.  So it needs to be fairly long.

Perfect, thanks for the fast reply. Ill be ordering them tonight. Im gonna use em to build a 1290 pre in a 1RU chassis.

Hi All,

I'm excited to announce that Jeff @ ClassicAPI.com and I have been able to work together to offer a great part at an even better price.  I now offer a Grayhill 12 position shorting rotary switch.

http://hairballaudio.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=88

ClassicAPI is stocking them as well.  It's always a pleasure to work with Jeff and even better when it results in a lower price for our customers.

Thanks!

Mike

Nice Mike. I just went to your shop to see if you got it up last night as you had hoped...and you did! Excellent pic BTW.  ;)

Yes, this is a great price. I have a funny feeling there will be more things like this in the future.  ;D

Good suggestions Mark.

I'll add it to the "explore" list.  I'd definitely like to expand the Grayhill offerings.

Hi All,

A quick note on Blue Stripe enclosures.  They arrived this week but unfortunately the finish was not up to standard.  They have been returned and I should have an update on a redelivery date in about 1 week.

Thanks again,

Mike
