hand wound + machine wound output transformer?

Hey, transformer gurus! I've searched and have come up empty handed so far. If an output transformer is partially (say 50%) hand wound, and the remaining machine wound, what would that accomplish? I know that hand winding can reduce capacitance, but I'm clueless past that.

I'm scratching my head as well but there's gotta be a reason.

It is, and the goal of the design is phase linearity over distortion. It's supposed to sound really good.

Sowter has the transformers, but I'm considering winding my own. Susan has the detailed specifications on her site for this purpose.

I'll reach out to her. The only thing I could think of was to fine tune the capacitance.
