Head Baskets make a difference in sound?

also interested to know the difference between say stainless and brass screen-- brass/alloy seems to ring less, damp resonance more and is easier to cut

Apart from resonances, vibrations, mechanical-acoustic behavior, another aspect can also intervene: stainless shields electrically and magnetically, unlike copper, brass, alloy, which only shields electrically.
Is it possible in the vicinity of strong electromagnetic, magnetic fields (for example when the sound of a speaker of a guitar amplifier, bass, etc. with a condenser microphone is picked up very close) that the proper operation will be affected ?

BM3000 is terrible for example, as it creates large nulls in the response, and messes with pollar pattern.
Hey KK, were you able to open the headbasket of the BM3000? What does it look like inside, would there be enough space for a KK12 capsule?

This video shows what it looks like in this low budget mic. The good thing is, it has virtually no circuit board to get rid of, ideal for the environmentally conscious DIYer. 😅

The one i got had enough space. It's just that the construction (ring for lack of a better word) holding the mesh is so wide. You can experiment with capsule placement back to front, it will alter the sound considerably. The mesh on mine was also just glued in place.

Thanks KK!
I opted for a used Fame "Vintage Bottle" to experiment with the lollipop form factor. The headbasket is screwed together and slimmer, which I think will cause fewer problems. We'll see...

... so I'll add a few words, if I may. :)

Years ago I used a Horch RM2J, for a couple of times. U47 type body and basket. But this basket had two mesh layers rather than three. Electronically there are differences with the U47 too, of course. But that Horch sounded incredibly smooth, with no audible artifacts or spikes/peaks whatsoever. Well, to my ears anway. And for what it's worth.
