how do you record solid metal impact sound... ie: hammer on dumpster!
hitting on dumpster's heavy frame producing pretty heavy impactful sound... but, i realized
recording is not so easy.... i only get  that initial hit, and its sounding very small... i have two overheads too.
nothing capturing the mass impact! overheads capturing only foggy rumble, not a great impact!
seems like i need to stick/glue a mic to dumpsters surface, piezo mic for double bass would work ?
any other recommendations ?
thanks

Or a contact microphone? Adhesive piezo film?

i got a celi  double bass piezo, will try that too. but distance and build up time is needed for sure!
makes sense!

edit: celi

i have been beating  my 6' wide dumpster, which is in the trash room  ::)
