Martin i'm stuffing 2 1290 boards of yours wich i got from someone else.
My question is about the DI. do you think i could wire it something like this schematic in here i know its a 1272 stage but the important thing is just after the secondary in the input transformer!

Hi 3nity,

It will probably "work", but will it sound good? I don't think bypassing the iron's a good idea as a lot of the 1290's rich tone comes from the I/O transformers. Something like a JLM Go-between would be my preferred way of doing DI.

HTH,

M.

Martin you might be right but theres a lot goin after the input too!
I have some JLM DI but wanted to try this since the thread jack dont goes trough the front panel!

didn't neve use separate line intransformers. i think carnill makes them. im going to get two for mine to thicken up my two buss from my toft mixer.

pres sound great!!

Hey Martin 4got to mention that i received your boards a while ago and they are looking fricking great and high quality! cheers dude.....now all i need is to find the cashish to get the parts.

Greetings,

I'm looking for domestic (US) source for the Grayhill switches and I want to make sure I have the manufacturer's part number correct. Is this the right one: 71BDF30-03-1-AJN

Here is a link to Grayhill's PDF datasheet for the part. And here is the part's web page.

It looks correct to me, but I'm still getting my feet wet with DIY stuff and want to make absolutely sure I get the right part.

Thanks!
That is the correct part number.

Jim
Good grief... it says it right there in the build instructions.

Note to self: always RTFM!

Thanks Bluzzi!

Hi MTW,

The BOM also tells you where to order it:

(just in case) :green: :thumb:
Indeed, I thought I might get a better price and not have to pay international air-mail. However, it seems that audiomaintenance is the way to go. One large US electronics distributor wanted double what A.M.'s price is, exchange rate included!

I've got the boards stuffed, just need to plonk down the cash for the transformers and switches. Almost there......

Good to know! Colin/Audiomaintenance takes good care of us!! :thumb:

Hey Martin, I am trying to wire up an output trim for the 1290's and am following the diagrams, however the trim is not a gradual one, but more like cutting off the signal at the last little bit of turn. And even then the signal is not off, but low and distorted. Will using a linear taper vs. a log pot make a difference? How about resistance value on the pot?

Adam

Hi Adam,

I think you asked this question a while ago. Can you confirm that you removed the 10K resistor and check with a multimeter that you completely severed the trace (and jumper you put in) as noted in: http://musiciansgig.com/ez1290/trimmer.pdf

Best Regards,

M.
