Excellent!! I ordered a bunch more PCB's and they should be here in about 2-3 weeks. I'm also working on two 8 channel, 3U preamps, which is **A LOT** of work, but loads of fun!! Stay tuned :wink:

I'm finishing some projects and planning for next ones. I've always wanted a 1290, this design looks great!
Can we still get these boards? I'd like 2 of them.
I presume if I want to use a 24 position switch instead of the Grayhill I can just bypass the resistor network for the Grayhill?

You could certainly bypass the resistor network and Grayhill switch on these boards and just use the two BA183NV's and BA183AM - but wiring a 3 pole 24 position is a royal pain IMO! Using the Grayhill with the EZ1290 PCB's makes the whole building process a walk in the park. :green:

i've to connect the Di input like JC does. With the schematic I don't understand how Jc does : how connect to the 100k resistor to each point of the jack TS. The schematic seems simple but i'm not sure of the way to do it.
I've TRS jack like Khstudio (same type but Tip Ring Sleeve instead of TS)
Any picture or info are wellcomed :wink:

I'm actually building 8 API312 channels and the first ones sounds very good :razz: .. but why not some Neve stuff now !
This "one knob" preamp is very interesting, how much cost the electronic stuff only ? .. and what are the input and output trafo used here ? ( I'm not specialist of neve preamp :? lol )

Electronics is not much except for the switch. The transformers will be the most expensive thing. I bought Carnhill vtb9045 and Carnhill vtb9049 from Audiomaintenance.

I looked on audiomaintenance website ... this stuff are not so expensive ( cost as much as the Cinemag trafo I got for the API project) .. but what are the trafo used on the original Neve?
Something that I didn't understood is the difference between this Neve preamp and the 1073.. could you just tell me what is the main difference between them ?

The difference is an EQ section. The original Neve 1073's are 1290's with Eq added. The newer AMS-Neve 1073DPA is really a 1290.
Original trafo's are Marinair or St. Ives 10468 and LO1166. Carnhill Transformers took over St. Ives. Carnhill's VTB9045 is basically the 10468, and their VTB9049 (or VTB1148) is the LO1166. It is said that the VTB9049 does not sound exactly like the original LO116 and that you're better off with a Sowter 9160/8571, but if you ask me personally that's slicing it pretty thin. I really enjoy the sound of my 1290's with the 9045, 9049.

The 1073 is a mike preamp as well as line input followed by an EQ/Filter section. The switches for the EQ part are hard to find and of course more costly than usual. There is also the added cost of 3 inductors I believe as well as the mike input and output transformers (same as the bare 1290) and also a line in transformer.
From my understanding so far, the 1290 is essentially the mike preamp part of the 1073. Much cheaper and you get the "sound" of the 1073 without the EQ.
The Carnhill transformers are as close to the original as you can get. I think only NEVE has access to the originals.
There is a 1073 project starting in the Black Market (from one of your compatriots). Remember its costly though and if you already have many projects the 1073 is not as easy as most because of its EQ section (those switches look like hell to wire up)
