Just got my latest copy of Sound on Sound with a review of this
Got nice piccies of the innards
It comes with a box containing a separate PSU which provides +24/-24, 48v, 0v via a 4pin XLR to the channel strip
2 custom Carnhill transformers
2 inductors
2 metal can transistors with the numbers scratched off

from a chandler rep on gearslutz
"The TG Channel is a TG2 pre amp, but has two minor differences. There are two extra transistors that stay in the circuit, which buffer the passive eq circuit. The other is that the input is 2.k impedance instead of 1.2k. I have been experimenting with other impedances and would welcome any thoughts.
Now its a 1.2k mic and 10k line.
other possibilites are 600 mic and 2.4k line
or 300 mic and 4.8k line.
Anyone?

The eq section is passive and adapted from an EMI mastering console circuit. I experimented with several EMI eq circuits (the 2 band recording console eq, and the jumbo 4 band mastering eq), but decided on this passive circuit that was used for tape equalization because it EASILY souned the best! It is all inductor based and very sweet sounding......
"

It all looks handwired but no covers for the IEC inlet - it is all soldered bare wire (oops!)
The review talks about the BC/BD (I forget which) transistors in the circuit
I can get more info on Monday if anybody would like..
For some reason since I joined this I love looking at the inside of audio gear

£1800, EUR 2600
And the buttons don't light up!!!

If the 2 metal can transistors looks like smaller TO-3? they're probably the same as in the TG-1, Motorola 2N4910 and Fairchild 2N4898. Output transformer is a standard Carnhill vtb9057/LO2567
The strange thing is that the TG-1 uses a 10468 as input transformer wired as +12dB step up  Thought the normal way was to take down the level before feeding it into the diod bridge :?

Thanx for that picture John!

Does this also look familiar!

Would love to see a pic of the matching mic input stage

"dont make me post pictures of my tg1..."

Please do. Please do Dave.

well, just imagine what boards from pcb express look like with components with all their markings scraped off in a box with a poorly made flexing front panel upon which is mounted one elma switch (so you can say "made with high quality emla switches", technically there are two) and then the shittiest alpha carbon 30 cent pots and plastic lorlin switches, yes, the same ones YOU used on your G-SSL, all for the bargain basement hype mahcine price of $4k.

of course chandler went with the cheapest PCB's possible to keep it to vintage standards, of course...

Im not concerned that I will get in trouble.

I just have the common decency as a human being to not embarrass someone that would build such a piece of S and charge someone $4k for it. Karma is a bitch, you know?

Im telling you, imagine a PCB express board that is a complete mirror of the original hand drawn boards, carnhill transformers, a stupidly designed box that he took from neve consoles, part numbers scratched off the actives and lorlin switches. ******* LORLIN SWITCHES IN A $4K box.

karma...

dave

if the boards are exact that could be a copyright violation of the neve boards and other parts if the following link has its facts right.

You can copy the circuit but not the artwork.

I read some funny stuff in here

The Chandler channel board looks similar however much simpler
There is one small blue transformer and one normal red transformer
The board looks a lot less stuffed than that - and it has what seesm to be 2 small inductors and one larger one
They blue lorlin switches seem to have gone as well
The metal cased transistors seem to have the same casing
There also seems to be a lot of axial red coloured components (caps??)

The red caps are radial polyster caps! Panasonic makes nice "non" metalized polysters (Farnell)
All small signal transistors are BC184/214
The small blue transformer in your unit is Carnhill! Carnhill stopped sell the green cans to others than AMS-Neve. Inside is the same only new can color!
