Hi
I've recently built a GSSL and now my 2 G Pultecs are nearing completion - ready to be installed in my project studio.
I'm using an Edirol FA-101 with my Mac for mic inputs into Mixbus.
I'd like to build a really nice single channel mic pre to add to my set up - I use RODE NT1 and SM57's predominantly for recording at home, and plan to build a tube mic later this year.
I'm pretty good round tubes - but like solid state too - but really like simple signal paths ,
What would people recommend I should build as a studio quality mic pre ?
The Green or 9K sound interesting - though I couldn't find any pcb layouts for the Green. ( I like to fabricate and etch my own pcbs )
9K looks pretty straightforward.
One bottle also looks good - but I'd prefer transformer-less project to start with.
I only really need single channel, or maybe dual for when I'm mic'ing up my guitar with close and distant mics.
Cheers
