There is a company in Germany offering MC-102 mics with a choice , i.e. you can "buy it now" and pick which mic you get from a selection of response plots.
The three plots are for the three capsules not, it would seem, for one capsule at 0-90-180. What I find odd is that on some groups of three plots you can see spikes at 200Hz and 500Hz which coincide exactly on all three. Three capsules with EXACTLY the same spikes. Only thing I can think of is if they were checked with their own preamp.
Just search for Octava on e-bay and you will see what I mean.

I have a few mc-012s and they all DO have a bump around 200-500hz. I have cardioid and hypercardioid capsules.

it's kind of annoying because they do have more low mids than other mics, which can overpower easily but not easily EQ'd out without it sounding thin, but then again it's SUPER nice on old classical guitars(bronze or nylon strings) just the way they are with no EQ..

Yeah, but is this guy being super helpfull or.......
If you have a look at the plots you will see what I mean. Some have no spike at all. Has he really got mics with matched capsules or is it BS. I still find it hard to beleive that he can offer capsules matched in this way. I have read that Oktava mics are roughly sorted and then the best are sent to a studio in Moscow for selection and matching into stereo pairs which are then sold at a much higher price. Maybe I am a sceptic.
