Hi!

I´m trying to get this meter from and old hp ac volt meter working as a VU meter. It has a resistance of 4k8.
I bought this vu meter driver on ebay.....it wont play very well with the meter. I´m able to set 0db (1.228vrms) with a 75k series resistor! The problem is that it reaches 0db on the meter at 0.8 vpp allready and stays there up to 3.5vrms.

How can i use this meter in my preamp project?

75K plus the meter resistance is about 80K. 1.228V rms across 80K is  15 micro amps which means this is a very sensitive meter. To reduce its sensitivity you need to add a shunt resistor. I should try adding a 470R in parallel with the meter.

Thanks!
Yes, it works better with the shunt.
(O, i noticed this on the meter: FS=100UA)
