Can anyone tell me if the attenuator (hopefully) shown in the attachment is balanced ?

Also, I was hoping to find out what the impedance is using a multimeter.

The legend for each has stops at 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and BR. As you see it has red, black, and yellow leads. If I measure resistance between black and red , with the switch set to BR or 30 for example, the reading is around 200 ohms, so would that make this a 200 ohm unit ?

If so, would this be suitable in between mics and old preamps like my UA 1108s and Altec 9470s ?

Sorry if these are dumb questions. I'm a musician pretending to be an engineer.

Thanks radardoug. That I'm afraid is beyond my current understanding so I will try to get it to a tech.

Stick it in and try it.

If enclosed, and studio-long cables, it matters very little bal or unbal.

3 wires does smell unbalanced.

Note the back wafer is cracked at the bolt.

Thanks PRR.

As I look at it more closely and at a couple of the others on the panel, there are also two leads coming out of the other side, clipped very short after their solder tabs. Black and red, showing continuity with their counterparts in the group of three that are in the grey jacket. The wire with a yellow jacket of the 3 pictured appears to be ground, so I am thinking maybe it's balanced.

The crack on that one doesn't go much further than the edge and happens to be in between positions that can be connected, so maybe not a problem.

I'll give it a try.
