Hi all,
I want to build a few of the so-called TapeOp omni mics for use around the studio, and also possibly for binaural recordings of stuff, Tchad Blake style, whenever that seems like a sensible idea. I really like the speed of and how life-like small omni capsules can be, and want to experiment with rather extreme close-up miking of things in the name of really extending the depth of my recordings. Plus, they're super cheap.
However, the Panasonic capsules that are used in this build are long since discontinued. Does anyone know of an alternative capsule that's really good for this kind of stuff?
Here's a link to the original text about them from Tapeop: http://tapeop.com/tutorials/16/how-build-microphone/
Thanks!
