Hey,

I’m trying to wrap my head around on how to build a selector for which 6-8 microphones goes to which 6-8 preamps in a 1U fixed installation (rear inputs + outputs), without having to use cables on the front (like in a standard patchbay solution).

One idea I had is to use rotary switches, one for each mic, and then choose preamp from there, but I guess that could cause issues if phantom power is on through the different preamps?

Would’ve thought this type of product already existed, but can’t find anything suitable anywhere.

Any ideas?

I think that if you use break-before-make switches, not very much could go wrong.
(The effect would be the same as 'hot plugging' a microphone on an input with phantom power.)
