Where did ‘Fester’ come from? I’ve been doing this a loooonnnng time and have read most relevant texts back to the dawn of time, and have never encountered anyone calling them ‘Fester’ knobs. Any insights? Suddenly every dealer of repo’s is calling them this and I suspect they’re all copying one another.

These were designed by John Vassos and team at RCA.

Everyone knows a number of his industrial designs, this might be the most recognized:

Didnt Peavey use a repro of John Vassos' knob design on an early mixer they did ,
Great article by the man himself too thanks Doug ,
Chunky controls with a tactile feel means your spending less time looking down searching and listening to the reflection from the surface of the console instead of the monitors .

Yes, Peavey used this style knob on early mixers. Haven’t seen one in person in decades, not sure who’s knob that was, but easily a VIZ version.

They do promo emails right. Not too frequent to be overwhelming. But also interesting with all the useful new products they keep adding.
They're definitely one of the very few. I bought a couple rugs from a website perhaps a week and a half ago. In that time, I've received a whopping twenty-eight promo emails from them since. No exaggeration.
