So at least the NT5 capsule is to blame for the poor sound. But how about it's electronics? As I said in my previous post, I don't expect a major difference, but I was wondering if you also compared the B5 capsule + NT5 body with the stock B5 mic.

Lets please try to be specific as to whether remarks are about omni or cardioid capsules - there's absolutely nothing "poor" about the sound of the Rode NT-45O omni capsule! - though they are (like the KM 183) too bright for anything but quite distant mic'ing. I have no experience with the cardioid, though Tony Faulkner quite happily used them on NT5/6s from time to time (usually with the bottom-most slits covered up, to nudge them closer to subcardioid).

His Green Room Productions' website gear list hasn't been updated since 2014, but I imagine he's now using the much improved Rode TF-5, which he helped design. They have completely different backplates (which are of the type seen on the Takstar CM-60/63).

I haven't tried yet the B5 (old version) vs the NT5, but I found I can half screw (the thread pitch is not the same) my CK61 capsule in the place of the retaining ring of the B5 (not sure if the new version also have this removable ring).

The CK61 obviously don't fit the original B5 connector, but I guess it can be adapted somehow saving the original PCB and maybe as a result coming close to a cheap and ugly C480 🤔

No, the current B-5 bodies have threads intergral to the body, so no removeable ring that leaves female threads.

For those with B5 bodies on which the Rode capsules don't fit 'comfortably', or are just concerned about thread damage, one can simply transfer all the Rode parts to the B5 capsule shell; they fit perfectly.

Since I'm recommending this primarily for the Rode NT45-O capsules for upgrading the Behringer (I don't have a Rode cardioid to compare to the B5 card), one can use a B5 cardioid shell for this, since the Rode omni has a sealed backplate, so the vents in the B5 capsule shell will have no effect. I would recommend removing the mesh that's behind the slots, as it makes it easier to insert the Rode parts.

This is definitely worth doing; the NT45-O has a much more refined sound than the B5's omni, even though it's a bit brighter. And yes, Rode makes their own capsules; they're not a Chinese OEM.
