check what jFet you have in DC/DCunfortunatly I got the new version... anyway I hope it's gonna sound (very) good with U47-flat

Yeah, and..? Is it supposed to affect the audio signal in any (positive) way?In DC/DC from some versions they used the jFET
2SK105!!!
Neumann used it in some U87 revisions.
No way! But it can be replaced with any jFet, (I put BF245) and 2SK105 can be tested in a U87 clone. Unfortunately mine had Idss=2.3, however it worked in U87ai.Yeah, and..? Is it supposed to affect the audio signal in any (positive) way?
Not all of us can afford 2N3819 NOS.
I sacrificed a working Crate guitar combo from the 80's to get 2 jFet 2N3819 Motorola (Idss 8..9mA) out of it. In U87ai with them I have Us 1,3..1,4v at correct bias... Not that that's uber-mega-"magical" in any way...
I think Central Semiconductor uses a different technological process, materials or semiconductor purification methods.
In Europe it's harder to get good NOS jFETs.It's well known here that the retail new 3819's have nothing in common with the old ones.
That being said, you're kinda making it sound like absolutely NO other JFET readily available nowadays could be used Which i'm pretty sure is not the case...
Very expensivediyaudiostore.com sells LSK170 & 2SK170 quad "paired" from $30 to $50
I know it's expensive but it's the only way I know to get real ones, no fakes, and with closed iDSS...
Not. They are hard to find. But they were in the microphones, selected, they sounded good, little noise, exactly like the few 40-year-old ones I have.do you easily find "good" 2SK30a ?
Wait!do you easily find "good" 2SK30a ?
I have a very old se2200, with through-hole parts, whose highs I tamed a bit and increased the capsule's bias voltage. It sounds warm and without a bit of noise.BTW and FYI : I also have a pair of sE2300 that sounds good for the price... I really like the value for money of this brand...
I Know. It's difficult to DIY.Great ! unfortunatly the new series are full of cms so very difficult (for me) to diy...
BTW : I only see 2 wires from the caps (diaphragm & backplate) : how do they manage multi pattern ??

I posted a pict of inside sE2300 (3 patterns)Well, it says "sE2200" on the edge of the PCB, so no multipattern to worry about.
Interesting to see they did away with the chassis altogether, Rode NT1 style...
