Anyone replace the felt on a shock mount?

I had some HT-11a (via chunger) shock mounts fail. One day they'd hold the mic fine, then next the mic would slide through the shock mount. Put the mic back in, and everything seemed solid. Even tugging on the mic wouldn't make it move, then it would slide through the shock mount again. I got frustrated and bought some heat shrink for the mic bodies and removed the felt from the shock mount. It's a little hokey, but it's working.

Recently, a Beesneez Ela M (solid brass) body slid through its shock mount. This shock mount is quite a bit older than the barely used HT-11a shock mounts that failed. Started to make me think I should have some replacement felt on hand, but I can't seem to find anywhere to buy it.

It gets dry here in the Canadian prairie winters. I wonder if that contributes to the slipping through the felt. Or it could be less tension in the clamp mechanism over time.

I also wonder if felt is the best thing to be using. Maybe something rubber? Silicone foam?

Yes, the volume of felt is always compressed due to its structure, which is difficult to maintain friction. Try polyurethane foam, which has better retention. In fact, silicone rubber is also a good choice

Felt? Is there glue on the back? You can try searching according to this picture. I have all kinds of felt easily available here, but we are too far apart, otherwise I would send some to you.

I was looking at EVA foam, I use it for paddling and have used it for making a sub-mini tube mount. I'll scour the ali express suppliers and see what they have for thin XLPE or silicone rubber.

This is a little on the thin side but maybe it will help. You could possibly use this to find thicker spec. I think this is 1.8mm. It is equivalent to what I have found on many shockmounts but I have seen thicker.

Bass drum felt strips work too.

I agree that alternative products may be better.
