Hi I like to ask you, may I use normal wima (or any other) poliester capacitors in release configuration in gyraf's ssl compressor. And why there is used tantalum caps?

Thanks

Polyester will be fine.

Tantalums are used because they're cheaper and smaller, but still dosen't change capacitance (much) over time like electrolytics would do.

btw: ssl used normal electrolytics in their xlogic g series compressor.

I've haerd that tants are much faster in charging and discharging than standard electrolytics.. but I don't know if it would make any difference in this application..

Thanks for your answer.
I will check capacitors and choose this polyester, who have the same or near the same value on the original :)
For the 6.8uF capacitor I will use tantalum.

It may be worth noting that Tants have less leakage than 1970s Al e-caps.

Modern e-caps are much better, and "low leakage" Al caps are essentially where Tants used to be.
