One thing is for sure, it won't have a real CK12 in it.

The later AKGs also did not have a 'real' (brass) CK12, which does not necessarily mean that they are bad microphones.

SSY Electronics makes pretty good stuff. Their mechanical parts like M49 bodies, yokes, 414 bodies... are really amazing. Definitely not Asian junk. It would be interesting to hear how the finished microphones sound. The contact with Jenny was always great. On their website they also show the well-tested, “real” brass capsule CK12 from Hi-Le. Interesting….

Yes! I have their M49 body and yoke and it's perfect. Building a PtP cardioid only 49 currently.

I might just have to grab a pair and find out!

Not sure what junk are you referring about but I think it's not fair to generalize. The lower quality products I have seen made in China were always a super cheap stuff, and still it was good enough for the money.

When asked if they could use their CK12 type, she said:
"We have the original type Ck12 capsules, but we don't assmeble them on the 414 mics. Our standard is the normal 34mm edged C12 capsules because the original capsule is difficult to produce and the cost is high. If you want, you can buy a few to try that by your custom. Or if you want us to do that, we can try."

I would most likely prefer to spend a bit more and get one of the several lauded CK12's that we all know and love around here.

I also bought some last year. Green and blue. In fact many have tried it.
For experiments they are good. One sounded interesting with NT1a's circuit in a modded headbasket , for a female voice.
They were really cheap.
