at the moment i'm working on the hamptone lcmp mic pre amp:

http://www.hamptone.com/figure1.htm
http://www.hamptone.com/tape_op_art.htm

instead of the 100k potentiometer (r4) i'm using the -2db stepped attenuator described here:

http://www.hamptone.com/attn_tx.htm
i ordered the 1pole 12 position lorlin rotary switch recommended on the hamptone web site:

http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/LN-800005.pdf

i dont know how to hook up the attenuator.
my guess is: the 12.4K resistor to the pin marked 1 and 2 and the rest of the resistors in order. pin 1 also going to ground(0V reference, yeah? not chassis ground)
pin 11 or 12 from(send)the pcb
and the center pin to(return) the pcb
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
i'm thinking this should be obvious and easy to figure out but the 12th pin and the center pin are really confusing me. can someone tell me how to hook this up. a small explanation is appreciated but not necessary thanks

doh!!! i think i got this myself . diagram is labeled ccw, cw . took a while for me to relize this was clock wise. counter clock wise. i was also confused because i had all the resistors for this part of the circuit in a separate bag. 1 resistor was missing and i couldn't figure out what to do with the "extra" lug on the attenuator.

Center pin surely is the output. I didn't check the order of pin 1/12 (or rather of the according resistors), but if the attenuator attenuates "the wrong way around" (i.e. cw instead of cc) simply interchange them. I never think about these, just give it a try.

Moved to the Lab.
