I have a Tek 2465 which I got refurbished by a seller on the bay. A few days ago the horizontal traces disappeared. When I press the beam finder they come up as blurry 3/8" dashes. Since they come up with the beam finder and the rest of the display seems to be functioning correctly I thought it might just be a calibration point that slipped. Is anyone familiar with this model? I'd hate to toss it when it doesn't seem too broken.

Check the PS caps.  There is a Yahoo forum (?) that has lots of fix it tips.

I have a few old scopes that are hobbling along. I swapped the 2465 out for a TAS465 that works, but is out of calibration even though it passes the self test. Putting a lot of time into it seems a waste of time when i can just get a new to me one. But who knows how long a new one will last? Just thinking out loud. Maybe I'll get a cheap Rigol. I don't necessarily need  a very low noise scope. for 90% of what i do. I know that will work when I turn it on.

I downloaded the service manual for the 2465 but I don't want to put that much time into it. I'll look for the Yahoo group.

That scope looks like a good scope.
Maybe try talking to these guys. If they are refurbishing regularly they would know all the problems.

Shame to throw away a good scope for a couple of hours work.
