Hi.
On eBay I'm looking at this Tektronix FG502, function generator plugin for TM500 rack. But I do not have TM500 rack. Can this unit be powered with DIY power supply? Is it useful at all without TM500 rack?

Maybe somebody knows if PS for FG502 is simple, or is it special complicated one?

thnx

All my.... ok most of my test equipment is Tektronix 500 series. Out of curiosity I pulled my FG501A and there are 13 points on connection to the power supply. One can usually waltz away with a 4 to 6 slot TM for under 50 bucks on fleaBay. Racks are fun to fill. There are a ton of Tektronix schematics at bama.......

Positive and negative 22V if i remember right plus some transistors located in the power module. Check the power module schematic for details:

This link is not accesible. Is there a password needed? I can see pdf file, but cannot see it. How to download that pdf?

thnx

If it doesn't work then try to download some other TM series power module, they are all quite similar. Note that there is also a mirror site.

Thnx!! It works from second link. First was ftp, and it seems my firewall is blocking it. But second is html, and works.

I checked TM501, it is certainly doable. Manual is GREAT!!! Everything explained in detail.

Thnx again.

Ages ago in high school I assembled tek scopes and tm modules for a summer job.

As was noted the 500 series had on-board regulation with AC supplied through the backplane and regulation power transistors in the frame.
