I emailed them back in August and they said:

“Cost will depend on purchase quantity. However, in 1 – 5 pc quantities the cost through distribution will be approx. $350 - $400 each.”

They had also said that they were supposed to start rolling out in August though and I havent heard much since, so I don’t know if those prices are still accurate or not

I posted something in their White Market thread asking about this as well. Another user linked me to somewhere that had them for sale. It's kind of weird, I would have thought this would have gotten a bit more fanfare, or at least that it would be easier to find information online.

If anyone is interested in a group buy after the new year send me a PM...

Yeah, well, prices go down with increasing sales. I'm not looking at a Triad price sheet with a year on it, but let's say 1960 $20, inflation adjusted it's $213, and they were selling a lot of them comparably speaking. This is what they feel they have to sell them for now for it to be worth their while, at expected quantities. They do have a sound, and it's crucial they replicate that successfully to make it worthwhile to people who care about that part when building replica equipment. If they fail in that, forget it, use whatever. It's time for people who've been bugging to make these again for 25+ years to put up or shut up.

looks like they are plainly exploiting the sky rocketing prices of the vintage market

The HS-56 shows up as $45.60 in the 1956 price list. Assuming that's not a misprint, that's a staggering $536.81 in 2024 inflation-adjusted dollars!

By 1962 the price had fallen to $25.82 ($271.53 in 2024 dollars). Presumably they were selling HS-56s in considerable volume by then--presumably far more volume than they could ever project for 2024.

With this context, I doubt any ulterior motives on Triad's part--I'd blame the sticker shock on good old-fashioned "beginning in the 1970s, wages stopped keeping pace with productivity increases." Impacts on standard of living have been disguised somewhat over the past half-century by cheap goods, but once in awhile something like this comes up to remind us that our grandparents earned way more than we do.

The audio side of their business is merely that...a side business, I wouldn't expect the prices to fall.
Pro audio is a tiny portion of the technology sector and we're lucky anyone caters to us at all.
