There is an extreme semiconductor shortage worldwide which some predict will end by 2023 or even 2024. It is been a PITA, just recently I needed some PCBs manufactured and assembled, and in a matter of days, several of the parts in the BOM I gave the provider went out of stock. It has been a huge problem, the same PCB/assembly company owner was telling me about all the problems they are having, one of them was that a particular IC they needed to assemble boards for a client became impossible to obtain, so they had to go to the Chinese surplus dealers, and after buying a whole batch of ICs for production, and after assembling the boards, none of them worked because the ICs were fake.

It totally changed my approach to product design. Now I order all the essential parts before actually submitting my PCB design to the fab house.

I see you're in North America. I recently found a lot of hard to find parts from EU distributors with good shipping prices:

I was able to find 20 x LM5002 :)

Also, the LM337 is becoming rare to find at a good price... Jameco has them in stock at $0.85 each.

Worldwide inflation, war in Ukraine, COVID, Monkeypox, and now, even the LM337 is a rare comodity...
