Why not build Jakob's G9 preamp?

That project has been on my list for a while - after hearing some clips of it recording acoustic guitar with some upgraded MXLs small diaphragm mics.

Gorgeous, Just Gorgeous!

Hard to beat these for simplicity, sound and cost.

I like that!

To update my own thread, I finally finished it (Neve EZ1290 build). Haven't had a chance to really test it yet but it's sounding good with bass.

I am not after the cheapest pre. I realize I can build that $5 pre if I want a cheap pre. But my Digi001 has ok pres built in. So my goal is to build something really nice.

So am I best off to build a Neve pre, an 1176 or LA-2A to use as a pre?

I'm completely open to suggestions!

thanks in advance,
Nick

It's always fun spending other people's money.

Go buy a used what ever and mod it. That's my advice.

dirk, I agree with you there. I am always one to buy a chassis from something and turn it into something else when I'm done.

Anyways, check out the post before yours... I built a Neve from Martin's EZ1290 board. EZ build and it sounds really nice.

I'd like to tweak it a little but I'm happy with it even as it is.
