Hi Scoob,

Welcome to GroupDIY - home of the solder addicts..

Sorry, I can't read .fpd files - you should maybe include a .gif or something else graphic for visual.

The GR-meter in the gssl monitors sidechain voltage at the attack/release timing buffer, and is not easy to persuade to do other tricks. It can be done, but you'll need to think it through properly.

Hi SCOOBY!

Independent from the generally design idea I would change the following:
-add a power switch on the frontpanel
-add a bypass switch to the frontpanel (important for me) ;-)
-maybe one meter for gain reduction, the other one for output volume?
I myself would find that a gain reduction meter is more important than vu metering, most of the times the compressor is BEFORE an vu meter... like the mixing desk or so
-please be sure that the meters are NOT to close together, i think they have a bezel or a small boarder? Depending on which frontpanel screws you want to use.. they could be also too close to the meters?

A very good Idea is to print the frontpanelfile on two DINA4 pages and glue them together and then check if everything works fine.
Maybe the case of the meters will be to close to both sides of the case so they won't fit? Please be sure you'd check everything... 50? for the panel is much money

just my 3 cents

Scoobs,

Did you know that we have a ToobieSnack here? He has a Scooby avatar!

Why couldn't you have been Scrappy-Doo?

Oh well..... Better get yourself a good avatar.

Sorry for going off the topic.

NRG took the words out of my mouth. Yerah definately power switch on the front as well as a bypass. For those who have seen the ed evens LA-3A mod, it's mainly a moving of switches from the back to the front pannel like the Comp/Limiter switch,Pwer switch, etc, etc, etc. WHo were the brains who put them inback. but enough about that, Welcome to the LAb.
Nrg that is a great tip on doing the pront pannels. My buddy picked up Photo paper that is 19" accross and 13" long. He plans on using it as you can print 1 pannel on 1 page. The Only problem is finding a printer that will work with that paper size. I told him that any copy place like kinko's(US copy and print store) will probably work. but anyway now I rambling again. lack of sleep.

actually the gain reduction option is what i wanted i think maybe i just said it wrong. thats what i was thinking when i said switchable from before makeup and after. rod i'm working on avatar now lol. i checked the radius' of the holes by enlarging them in there current positions they should fit fine as i'd be using the regular al20 not the square ones. suggestions on the wiring for the meter switch from gain reduction to output.

Depends on your housing, but it looks like the right meter cannot be fitted because of the housing.
What I always do is printing the panel, glue it to paperboard, cut out every hole, assemble all elements and fix it to the housing. This test has saved my much money.

as requested people
oh and i've moved the meters around and enlarged up to 57mm (they are only 56mm with bezel) no clearance issues and my holes are 54mmas prescribed.
