I bought this on a whim and am just looking to see if I can find anyone who can offer any insight at all in to the maker and / or what this box does. It was sold as a microphone amplifier (pre-amp I'm assuming) but I can't find anything online at the moment about BEC (or B&C or BCC) so have no clue about what it is or when it's from.

My old man suggested that he thought it looked more like RF gear than audio but any insight I can gain at all (about the manufacturer or the specific box) would be gratefully received.

Looking at the coils I would say it looks more like a (VHF) transmitter than a microphone amplifier...
On the second picture you can see 2 crystals in holders, an other sign that it is RF equipment.

Might have some nice parts though!

This was my thought! It'd be nice to know what it is (in a historical sense) to form a judgement as to whether it's better kept together and passed on a radio ham who knows its value or to split it down for parts.

Thanks for all the pointers so far, I'm still keen to hear from anyone who knows who BEC were.

This is a BCC (British Communications Corporation) military radio.

Incredible skills, Moreorless. I'd searched BCC B&C and BEC with radio and a bunch of other modifiers, also tried tineyeing the pictures and drawn a complete blank!

Thanks for the input. Now I have to work out what I'm going to do with it!
