Hi, everyone. I was building a Royer tube mod into a gutted Perception 200, and, while disassembling, found that the AKG capsule is actually bigger (34mm) than the MXL style capsule (32mm) I was intending to use.
Does anyone know if the Perception series capsules are built/QC'd better? Would it sound better than the 32mm replacement. The only thing I've been able to find is that AKG uses them in all of their Perception series (even the 820). It's also supposedly a K67-style (center-terminated) design. Any other info would be great. Thanks.

The Perception series uses the standard K67-style china capsule you see everywhere.
Why swap a standard China capsule for another standard China capsule?

I prefer the 34mm China K67s over the 32mm variety.
Unless you want to drop more $$$ on a better capsule, just keep it stock.

I think you will hear improvements with a K47 or M7 style in that mic. We've done capsule swaps on the perception series, and liked K47s much better than stock.

But, I'm super-biased, so please get other people's opinions.
