We have an Altec M11 here that has started thumping periodically. Probably about once every 2-5 seconds. Is this possibly the diaphragm collapsing? We recently moved our studio from CA to VA. It's much more humid here and has been raining a lot lately.
 
Humidity is def a possibility.  Google "condenser mic breath test".  Not collapsing, but basically shorting out due to contaminants made conductive by moisture.

Of course a cap going bad could also cause a similar symptom...
