the powerjack is a 5 pin xlr....yepp very GML like ;-)

what's that for a power supply... ??

do you use an external supply only for safety reasons??

external AC wallwart:

1. I dont have to deal with CE crap when I build a unit for someone
2. no transformer strayfield inside the box
3. !!! no need to connect mains earth to the chassis !!! ... which is one of the No.1 troublemakers in the audiobiz ;-)

Ive only gone through the setup procedure only a handful of times, but it seems to me like those trim pots effect the circuit globally, ie, sometimes you have to go through the cal twice to get it right. I would imagine that if you put the distortion trimmer on the front panel it would work great for effect, but I dont imagine that there is a "zero" point to set it back to when you want the box in "normal" operation, you'd have to go through the whole cal procedure to get the box back to its baseline. I havent tried this to claim for certain, its just a thought. What do you guys think?

that's a really an important argument... I had a lot of prolems with "dirt" on the mains ground in the past...

but from where do you get an AC wallwart with an output voltage around 24V ??
I've never found something like that for a reasonable price...

good points about calibration dave.. so, what about using the front panel switch to bring in a pot or stepped resister switch? In off mode you route through the standard 100ohm trimmer. Or, just use a stepped resister switch with one position as the calibrated setting?

Im going to give it a try next weekend before I finish up my metalwork. Sounds fun.

Forgot to mention in my previous post, damn fine looking unit Steff! :thumb:
