You want to claim some cause (you can't say what, of course) for these countries suffering, but you avoid examining the most probable cause, US aggression, which has a long history of attacking socialist countries and groups, and is right now attacking any it can. What you don't want to admit is that the difference between successful socialist countries and those that fail is just that, US aggression, so we get the thesaurus and the winking and hinting.
