Hello DIYerz. I am of course very happy to be part of this extremely beautiful forum. Its this time in your life when you realize what you love doing and anyone that loves sound and have no big pocket to sponsor Neve's and Manley's or wanna experiment will reach this point of DIY ur dream machines.
As far i can solder cables and connectors quite good. But reaching 42 I wanna get deeper at last. I am attending a school to become network and IT specialist since only with sound engineering its not possible to make lots of money to keep family happy. And i will learn electronic measurements and some electronics next semester and have to make also a small circuit as homework in the lab. So I already asked the teacher if I can make a circuit for sound and he agreed and will help me. So I am very excited that I will get proper guidance while doing it and tips from the teacher.
My question is to experienced members what can I make that will be easy level but using proper parts will be a useful device for my rig? I mostly need pre, compressors and Eq, but having an analog console in my studio (Soundcraft MH3 32ch) EQ is not my first need.that could be a good pre for instruments mostly (guitar and bass mostly) and for microphones secondary. I know already my level is not ok for making a tube pre or tube device even i would love to hehe..So please suggest/advice me some projects that will introduce me to DIY and also make me wanna more!!
Compressors I also love. Any vintage replica i would love to try really.la2a,1176,160x,670,33609..
Thanx for reading and waiting ur answers! Happy New Year to everyone!

If you want to have access to additional pres, EQ or compressors then a good way to start is with a 500 series lunchbox which you can fill with modules you can either buy or build as kits. For something not too difficult or expensive to start with now, how about a DI box.

Welcome to the group.

Cheers

OIan

Yeah a DI can always be useful and important part in a rig. I dont know about 500 series, I haven't any experience with these modules and needing a lunchbox etc creates many more parameters that could not let me hear feel the difference my device actually makes. I would like in future to experiment with 500 but i feel atm the best would be a single powered individual 19".. or small individual boxes if DI or pre..
So where to start for a D.I? If i wanna make a real good one what differates it from a good one? And some links to start with ??
Thanx for answering
