Hello,
I am new to building gear, but I am extremely curious on how to build your own mic preamps. I want to build from scratch (basically) I would buy the PCB but i want to get everything else separately (no kits) .
Any suggestions?
thanks!

Welcome!

Many projects around here. For starters, maybe take a look at the SSL9K preamp?

SSL9k was my first project, so affordable if you take the time to read a few things, there's a lot of info about it, and it's a nice preamp, you'll be pleased with the sound of your unit, for sure.

This is my first post here, so I'd like to just say hello to everyone. I'd also like to say that this board is so freaking awesome! I've lurked around here for a few weeks and have been floored with all the info here, and just how knowledgeable everyone is.

I'd also like to say that I'm new to building studio equipment, but I have built my own stompboxes. A bunch of BYOC stuff. Got good enough at it that I started to come up with a couple of my own simple circuits.

So, I'm looking for a good place to start myself. An SSL 9k pre sounds like a good place to start. Any info you guys can toss my way would be appreciated. Anyone know where I can get a PCB for a 9k pre? Any advice on how to get started on this?
