Hey guys I just recently bought a couple of Calrec Q mono EQ's (QF2924). I was wandering if the Pinout or Schematic for this module are available? I'm planning to rack the modules and use them as stand alone EQs does anybody have experience with this? done a fair bit of DIY before but, i'm not too well versed in theory & circuit design, would need pointing in the right direction. any help and further info about the Q seires would be greatly appreciated.
Also would help if i could get some more general info about racking console modules.
Cheers  8)

Hey Jakob this really helps, your information cleared up some of the information Calrec gave me.
I've attached a PDF file of the QF2924 pinout information sent to me by Calrec I thought it would be nice for anybody who's looking for
it in future.

I've got one question though on pin 17, CR I understand this is Central Rail? how important is this to racking up is this just wired to ground or is it more complicated than this?

I really could do with information on how to go about racking up modules so anyone who can point me to things to look at when racking a console module
would be really appreciated!  :'(

Thanks again Jakob

Hey Jakob (and anybody else) I also forgot to ask for required current i was under the assumption its was 100mA similar to the Calrec PQ1549 but i thought it best not to assume
however my best guess would say what ever the QF2925 requires i'm sure its the same for the QF2924?
anybody have any ideas?

An update i've successfully wired up a module via my bench psu the module draws 70mA for the two i will use a 150mA fuse as a safety for the two modules does anybody reccomend any psu's for these units main operation requires 16v +/- lamps (led lights) require 8v +/-
i was looking into JML psu's but haven't figured out which one maybe suitable won't dare design my own yet not experienced enough lol
any help would be appreciated. mains will be 240v AC (UK mains)

Hello,
can photograph the schematics for the stereo version of these modules if you need them?

I dont think you need a bi-polar ( + -) supply for the lamps, just an 8V rail.
So one of JML's 3 rail pcb's will do nicely.

Hey Thanks Mr Clunk that would really help, the two units (Mono/Stereo) are pretty similar; for some reason Calrec were strangely not open with schematics for this even though i don't see anything
too esoteric on the board, Also I think i'll buy a transformer from JLM aswell as one of their voltage circuits thanks for the suggestion.
Have you racked one of these before? if so what are your impressions of it in use?

Also i'm open to any suggestions on front panels and cases in the UK, right now i've got my eye on http://www.frontpanelexpress.eu/
to create a front panel and i'll buy a 1U maybe 2U 19" rack from Farnell, but again if anyone has had great results with anyone else let me know
cheers
;)

I'll try and take some pics of the schematic this evening. They are A2 so a little large for scanning!

Front panel wise, i would just mount the existing module inc. panel into a 1U case. Will save you lots of cash.

I havent racked any of these but do have 48 in our desk and i like them alot. A great tool.

I've seen a few on sale recently and more will start to surface in the UK as the desks from Bush House and Television Centre get parted out.

Hey Mr Clunk thanks for the schematics, the last two are great res really appreciate that!

lol yeah sometimes i forget they come from a console, i've heard alot of good things about Calrec in general but have never used one :'( I was really attracted to the 4 bands with hi an low pass and all from a great sounding desk!

i've done some tests with the bench psu and what i've heard sounds very good so far it's quite clean which is exactly what i was looking for
i'm close to racking these now just have to wait for the parts to come in, i will post pics when i get it all together
cheers
