Both Vintech Audio (U.S. disributor) and Carnhill never respond to any of my e-mails and I know how reluctant Vintech is to actually sell the stuff to outsiders anyway. For those of you who have sucessfully obtained this stuff in the past, how did you do it? I know TK sells too but I don't live in Scandanavia. I need a reliable source for the VTB9045 input, 10 or more at a time.

I Jens.
I've got same trouble joining carhnill by Email... So i decided trying phone call... My english is a bit poor, so it was not easy discussion but the person i talk to was patient and so i got infos i was looking for.
But to be honnest, i didn't buy them stuffs because they're not bargain prices ( more affordable with 8 and more pieces).
So let's try.

Another one comes out of hiding! WELCOME TO THE COOLEST AUDIO FORUM AROUND! :guinness: :guinness: :guinness: :thumb:

Someone smart once told me "a phone call is worth a thousand e-mails". I wish I could remember who it was. That was going to be the next step, just figured I'd get some feedback from all of the members who have already obtained some.

Try Joel Cameron.
Her seems to have a knack for scoring x-formers from Carnhill.

Even custom jobs.

I guess I would be "her" (though don't tell my wife..... I don't think her heart could take it :green: )

Yes, I've been talking with Carnhill about some designs, and I'll be making an order soon. If anyone wants to get some Carnhill iron for their Neve stuff let me know, and perhaps I can add that to my shipment.

I guess just let me know who wants what, and I'll see what kind of pricing I can get from them. I'm guessing this would be mostly for the 10468, 31267, and LO1166-types? (sorry, I don't know the Carnhill part numbers off the top of my head).

Also, just so you know, Vintech is no longer a distributor for Carnhill. There is no US distributor. They prefer to do 'direct' purchases into the US for the moment, and have no desire to start another 'distributor' relationship, so it's all pretty much one on one for awhile.

Let me know if anyone is interested. CJ is testing some custom outputs for me at the moment, and I don't expect I'll be placing a firm order with them for about another week or maybe two, so if you want something let me know, and I'll see what it'll cost.

Peace,

JC

I think I'll just give them a ring tomorrow morning and see if I can set up my own account, since this won't be a one-off thing. VTB9045 is the 10468, although I'm not using it in a N*eve design. Thanks guys! :thumb:

Hey Joel!

Good to see you round these pasts! We meet in '03 in TX when you were putting together the Shane's Home Studio. I was the weird South African guy who you chatted gear with over Chick Filla (sp?)

It was kind of weird cause as I read your post I recounted how you shared you built your own gear and pres... I guess a few years down the line I joined the club. Now I can't stop damb it!

Sorry to take this OT, just wanted to say hi :thumb:

Cheers

Matt

Yeah, its tuff to get Carnhill, and its even tougher on the pocket.

It would be nice to see Cinemag would offer a line of the popular Neve transformers. I'm thinking the price might be more reasonable. They seem to know what good iron is all about. US dollars to pound conversion is murder !!!

Somehow this doesn't seem feasible to me... Someone has to own those designs, be it C*arnhill or A*MS-N*eve. Cinemag would need to license and then there's no telling they'd be able to get the right materials (I wonder how Ch*andler's chinese ripoffs compare to the C*arnhill?). The 10468, for example, has a really particular character that I love and have not yet heard in competing units. The other brands can come close and be something very cool in their own way, but if it's not exact then it's not that sound so what's the point? Carnhill got it spot on, IMHO, and I'm willing to pay for that.

Three years ago I bought ten pairs of VTB9045 and VTB9049 from Carnhill and it was a serious financial effort. I would like to do it again but I don't know if possible any time soon at those prices.

Ya know, that was rather irresponsible of me, I apologize.

Those prices reflect a 50-100-piece purchase for each type. They are, indeed, considerably more expensive at much smaller quantities.
