edit - reading that interview makes me realise why many of the engineers you speak to who've been around a few years are so keen on modern HD recorders!
 
Thanks for the link.  I would look forward to Norman Crowhurst articles in DB magazine when they came out back in the day.  There is so much info in these magazines.
