Our older Dutch and Belgian members may remember the Philips/MBLE Polykit mixing modules from the '70s. It was a line of mic preamps, simple equalizers, meters, and summing amplifiers, all in kit-form.

The website is in Dutch, but I don't think it's too hard to understand. Versterker=amplifier, voorversterker=preamplifier, volgversterker=line amp, hoofdtelefoon=headphones, toonregeling=tone control. The schematics, BOM, and sometimes print layouts are all present.
They were reportedly not too bad, when well-built. I know someone who actually made a 16-channel mixer with these kits. It hissed and buzzed everywhere, but at last, he managed to make it work quite decently, he says. (his example is sadly all gone).
