Here is a soundclip for you guyz, local artist...

MK47, Equinox capsule... Mic Pre was (If I remember well) Trident A Range.

Very nice indeed. That (fine) voice has lots of ping/twang/squeeze (the healthy kind) or singer's formant going on and zooms in on that. High larynx (short vocal tract) too, which makes her sound younger than she probably is (not saying she's old, mind; just not a "little" girl anymore). The lower octaves of the mic (which can be huge in U47s) aren't used in this case. So this is a good chance to hear what this one does in the higher midrange and beyond. Pretty impressive I must say. True esses, too.

I recorded the lead vocal of this song with my MK47 + BeezNeez K7.

Reposted from the build section...

Slightly different aspect of the MK 47b build here...

I would like to use the Beez Neez U47 body.

Ben and Veronica have two styles-a three rail with tapered base and a two rail with a flat base.

The current builds seem to be based on a two rail system but I am partial to the other body style.

Has anyone tried the kit using a three rail body?

Thanks
Mac

Ha, and another one. Nice, too. I knew there had to be samples out there. Must be many more. Keep them coming, folks. If one or two have the guts, the rest will follow.  :D

Here is one from "Ghosts I've Met".  Everything recorded with MK47.

I have recorded a ton with this mic if you want to hear more.

Wow - beautiful!  I'd love to hear more.

Here is some more Tomten. Listen to the track "Rhododendron Rd."

It's a different singer. Mk47 is all over this track. Vox and guitar.

Not to derail the thread, but I really like the sounds you got on this tune. Any other DIY gear in the tracking chain? Also what is the compressor on the drums (maybe 1176)?

Dylan

Also have to add that that is a killer vocal sound, not just for a DIY mic. Super fun tune too. I think one of these mics is next on my docket.

Dylan,

I used a hairball 1176 rev A that I built. All sounds recorded to Tascam Atr-60 and mixed on SSL. All analog!

A rare treat.
