Max, are you going to be doing another run? I really want to build an MK-U47, but can't afford to spend that kind of money on a mic right now

Got it! Does someone have tips and tricks to fasten and align the Flea capsule holder with 1 height adjuster? Do you cut the plastic screw that fastens the holder, if so how much? And what about the alignment compared to on-axis and fixing: glueing...?

Thinking as a sound engineer (as I am) rather than an electronic engineer (which I'm not). I found the height of the capsule holder quite high. Especially in conjunction with the top rim of the basket: acoustical obstacle. Compared it with an original U47 it sits indeed a bit higher. Decided to wait for a decision on that after testing, measuring and recording in an anechoic chamber and studio circumstances.

Other than that: Here is a tip from me for the Teflon Feed Through. I had some trouble with one of the holes (ruined 4 feed throughs...). At last I used several philips screwdrivers to create some kind of chute/funnel and after that I was able to install it easily just by hand!

Ioaudio, I can't PM you due to your inbox being full.  I am going to purchase a MK47 kit from you, but I was wondering if I could get an extra kit but minus the flea housing.  Could you give me a price for this?  Thank you.

Dan

Hey guys, I'm wondering about what shockmount you all use.  I was about to get this one: http://www.rycote.com/products/shock-mounts-suspension/invision-studio/invision-usm-vb/    as it seems to be good for some other mics in our studio.
We're nearly finished with the build and it seems that the MK U47 will weight around 1 Kg, it weights 940 g' without the tubes and capsule right now. This Rycote shockmount seems to be really good and have some nice reviews, but it's limit is 900 g'.

I wonder which shockmount do you guys use and how it is going with the heavy duty, is it clumsy ?

Thanks

What about this one:

It looks a lot like the Telefunken U47 shockmount:

Best,
Marcel

Thanks for the reply Marcel, I actually just got an answer from Rycote, and they said that their shockmount should hold the microphone easy, and might have problems only if I put it in horizontal position.

Anyone has experience with using the MK U47 in horizontal position?

Thanks

It works, but you really have to use a lot of power on the screw.
I don't know, why they still have this old system of pressing 2 plain parts together by pressure.
It would be so easy to use some kind of jagged surfaces on the friction areas.

Have built three so far. Sold two. But there is a lot of interest here in Sweden, so I will probably have to build at least two more.
Will there be another round?

Keep up the good work, Max!
