>Engraving by yourself or by Sch. ? What did it cost you ? I like this style very much.

Engraving was done by schaeffer in berlin. If I'll ever have some money leftover I will buy a cnc. If I'll find a good supplier for anodized panels and know how to fill the engravings with colour... maybe I can make some panels cheaper than schaeffer. But the engraver aren't cheap. And I think I'll press the "start engraving" button before swichting on the drilling machine :green: 40? -50? were gone then  typical beginner's mistake
The silver backpanel costs 28,12? (without material, 'cause I send a panel to schaeffer, and 2x 44,45? for each compressor panel.

>Is this design something that you would share? Me wants....

Yes, of course. (or do I have to ask Mr. Bill Putnam Jr. and Mr. James Putnam before?) :? (actually iam a bit fearful)
Oh :green: I just realized that uaudio had changed the picture of my EMT140 to another picture
today:
http://www.uaudio.com/webzine/may/content/content4.html
some time ago:

(see the pictures of my EMT140 on my site) :green:

So that shows that maybe someone is lurking around here? :thumb:
Hi All! :guinness:

>Damn I wish I could do the kind of work!

Thanks Gary. It's not that hard to do! I bet you can do it yourself. You can use the frontpanelfiles above and match them to your needs. You need to work a while with the frontpanel program. If you have any questions I'll always try to help everyone. I could also try to check your panels before you send them to the engraver. That could maybe save money and problems. 4 eyes are seeing more than two eyes. And I got 4!
look here: = (i wear glasses) :green:

Definitively! :green:
I changed the light bulb to a LED. You could also use a purple LED here.
The good old tubetown lampholder... http://www.tubetown.de/ttstore/

> Dude, do you work for Behringer?

No no  Why do you mean? Because of the posting by Michael Krusch? :green: Naa.. he's only a funny guy  But behringer is 10 minutes from here... maybe there is some reverse engin-air here in this part of germany? :green: SPL is also 10 minutes away from here. I had the chance to visit them. They're veeerryy nice! Hermann and Ruben are amazing guys! :thumb:

> Could I ask you your frontpaneldesigner file ?

Yeah. Please ask  Or look above...

>Did you use you?re own panels our is it from schaeffer-apparatebau?

I send the silver panel to schaeffer, the black panels were made from schaeffer's material. (they're 1,5mm thick)

>Could I dream to get a partlist?

What do you need exactly? Knob source is posted above. Panels, too. And the rest is standard, and cheaper if you'll buy it in your country maybe. Otherwise.. just ask...

Kind regards,
Frank.

excellent work and words Frank
:thumb:

how are you holding the meter in ?
glue ?

Hi Frank,
Thanks for sharing! You've obviously put a lot of thought and hard work into this! I ordered a couple of mnats boards a few days ago, so the timing for your gift is perfect!

BTW, it looks like we can mate your 1176 with my G9 and make some wonderful sounding offspring. I know you can't tell from my low-res picture, but my G9 is like the inverse of your design. The clear aluminum part is raised and the black anodized part recessed. :thumb:

Wouldn't it be nice if we could just leave two rack units in a room, with wine and candles, a little Barry White music and get a litter of new gear? Puppies!

Not like there isn't enough wierd sexual undertones here, but I have to say, nice knobs Frank!

Thanks Kev!

Hmm.. the meter actually fits so good into the panel so that it can't fall down itselfs.
Iam thinking about several ways to fix it to the panel:
-2K glue
-
smilie_puke.gif
china /behringer hot-glue
-construction glue from "würth"
-superglue
-or a thin peace of metal which is bended between the black panel and the meter backpanel, so it is clamped between the two panels and need no glue or so... (but thats too complicated for this)
-or buying a sifam AL19wf

  Oh cool! So is your G-Unit male or female? However... That doesn't play a role because my 1176 is "dual"

yep
I did that too

a short warning
my meter face ended up cracking months later ... I guess the front panel contracted or the meter tried to expand with heat ... whatever
anyway busted meter face was bad

Very impressive!

One question:

How did you get outline of the black panels black?

All my black panels have a black front side, with natural aluminium colour where the engravings are, but the back side, and the outline, is always natural aluminium, too.

Did you just paint the outline, or is there some other trick?

JH.

Just when I think I can have a go and doing the boxes the same as the rest of you guys...
The blooming bar has been raised...
ummph!!

Outstanding work indeed....

One question:

How did you get outline of the black panels black?
I thought about that
Then I realised - it was so simple it was clever
Just engrave the outline
If you engrave very close to the edge you will get the white border with a very thin black outline.

 Amazing work!!
you went a looong way from the first ssl frontpanel made with letraset....
very nice style...

No, sorry that I wasn't clear enough.
I don't mean the outline _on_ the front. I mean the "outline" (or whatever
it is called) of 1.5mm material thickness which also appears black on the photos.

Oh, and on closer inspection (clicking for the big photos) I see this isn't black at all. The natural colur of this just merges with the same colour of the larger backround coulour. Question answered! (;->)

And again: Very nice front panel, that is!

Naa.. not to many time. You just have to work with it some time and you can do such a panel in an hours or less.

Thanks for your warning. I'll see if the meters are smaller if it gets hot in summer  Next time... better sifam vu's (or the chinese copy) with bezels

I think most of the guys who are diying something wouldn't buy it if they couldn't build it. (maybe)

Yeah. I hope so :green: The first letraset panel is a good example how you shouldn't do it :green:

It is really amazing how the demand for quality standards growed up. I started to collect the parts for an LA2, and started to do the case 2 years ago or so, and today I can't use that **** metalwork I'd done at that time.

Do you want to buy just a frontpanel? :?: :green:
and why buy? ... diy

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

and if someone wants to make a frontpanel like this...
please print out the panel grafics on two DINa4 papers, stick them together and check if everything is correct.. it could save money. You'll always find errors easier on a printed version than at the computer.
I removed the drills to fix the panel to the case advisedly to avoid errors. So you HAVE to measure the drills. And if someone forgot to make them he'll get a panel without these drilling, so he can drill them himselfs. The screws aren't visibly in the end anyway.
