Neumann TLM103 capsule - the best affordable replacement?

I might be able to make a k103 actually. Could be fun. I need to get an fr reference capsule though since I took apart the only one I have. I have all the parts ready to make a k103 but I'm not sure about the level of interest. I can confirm that my newest version of my capsule sounds good in a flat circuit but it won't sound the same as a k103. People say a k87 sounds better in a tlm103 but it's a matter of taste

Probably an Arienne Audio K87 from soliloqueen.

The Arienne K87 capsule needs a circuit to ensure deemphasis in the area of medium-high, high frequencies, etc.
The circuit in the TLM103 is a relatively flat and the K103 capsule is less bright than the K87.
I have Neumann TLM103 for about 25 years. Stock is very bright, even sibilant and with some unpleasant resonances on certain sources. With a K87 capsule it will be even brighter.
* The K103 is not half a capsule of the K87, it is a capsule with a distinct design.
(However, deemphasis could be made on circuit 103 even though it has a different topology than U87)

Thanks! Btw do you know where can i buy k103 capsule? Cause i cant find any trusty store. Official neumann service in my city told me it will cost 460euro, but im not sure it’s fair price and would like to check it

Indeed original Neumann capsules are expensive. Yes, that's about the price, in addition, they are not really available for sale separately, but only in authorized Neumann services.
