Ok, tested with an M7 and it works! I'll put the K67 back and hope for the best but if it is in fact a bad capsule, what could've happened?! Is there any way to remedy it?

Update: I reached out and Ben said he would replace it. I’m still curious how this might have been intermittent for 2-3 years and then finally kicked the can. Especially since it’s not isolated backplates. Any ideas @soliloqueen?
might be some kind of short considering the rings are metal

studio 939 has no more bodies in stock. they also did not respond to my messages. Any other ideas for a good housing for this?
I am on the verge of doing a pair of @Matador @chunger 251’s … and emailed ‘Chung about a month ago to check on availability of parts and bodies …

He has been slammed with work … but he assured me even though the 939 site shows certain things as out of stock … he generally can usually accommodate a small order …

And yes you have to wait a bit to get a response … but he has never let me down … and when he can’t fill a part like shock mounts … he always credits back …

Even though we have to wait with certain vendors … like @soliloqueen … they all have great integrity (Ari always responded to my emailed requesting status updates on my order … Ben at Beesneez has always made good on any issue … even when I mistakenly ordered the wrong transformer … and Dany (@poctop) has been more than accommodating and helpful with his sage advice) …

And they are ALWAYS worth the wait (at least for me) !!! In every case … my patience has been a virtue !

Best Regards !!!

I used a pair of these, but it took a bit of work to get everything to fit:

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256...t_main.60.aa5e1802BPP7OC&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

Modifications included grinding out the headbasket openings for the switches, remounting the main body rails to accommodate the PCBs, grinding the edges of the PCBs to clear the main body, and a few other little things.

With the rework I also defeated some of the ground connections in the PCB traces so I added a ground jumper to the switch board.

It was worth the effort, but is time consuming.

thanks, thats reassuring. do you know the best way to contact Studio 939?

thanks. yeah i tried that form a month ago...got nothing. i tried again.. hopefully i get some response sometime
Sorry to hear … and I wish I had more encouragement to offer … other than to say he has ultimately always responded … and that I have always felt the wait was worthwhile …

I have never waited longer than 6 weeks for a response or a notification of shipment …

Best of luck !
