Hi SuperMagoo,

That looks so cool! - three questions, if that is ok?

1/ What is that huge blue capacitor for?
2/ Also, did you select tubes in any way?
3/  In -12v reg line, what is value of pot to ground? (on Fairchild schematic, it is 2k5). I cannot read your capacitor value in parallel with this pot. (On fairchild schematic it is 0.1uF)

     Kindest regards,

        ANdyP

1) is to help the high voltage regulated.
this cap is 3300uf x 400v.
I have to finish the new source of regulated power.
2) do not understand to which it refers. the 2c51?
3) my pot is 10k. cap is 0.15 poly

2) because I read that 5670 = 2c51, some people used an 5670 Fairchild results in bad performance, but it worked.
Also use the Manley Vari-mu and I do not remember too well if pendulum.
I guessed it should work.
In argentina 2c51 or 5670 cost only 7 dollars.
could also have chosen  6ba6 but not have 7pin sockets, laziness get by.
remember that this is a experiment. is then to build in earnest with 6386 and jj xfmr sowter.
I stopped to build a better unit for having obtained such good results with this shit.
Furthermore sowter+JJ6386 buy is very expensive.
I guess 1000 usd or more per channel.
in Argentina, in 2000 dollars you can buy 850 bigmac's!.
with poorchild I just spent 120 bucks (not counting sifan that are for another project).

Hi SuperMagoo,

I fully understand 2c51! only $1.75 on EbaY ;D ;D ;D Did you have to select them at all? Also, where did you get control amp transformer from? Total with Sowter iron is £800 per channel PLUS £400 for 6386JJ!

     Kindest regards,

   ANdyP

what you do not understand is what I do not understand.
I try to build something to appreciate as a work of this style compressor and then assemble the parts with good quality.
was something surprisingly interesting.
is just good luck.

Hi SuperMagoo,

OK! only language! No Problem! You have been very very kind. Thank you! Me no hablo Espaniol . . . .

jajajajja  :D :D :D ;)

if this is not allowed to write in Spanish in this forum.

You misinterpreted me due to my very bad English, sorry. :-[

I meant: "What you do not understand is the same as I do not understand
. as you may work as well? "

valves have not matched.

The potentiometer 100 omhs 2 watts is not tamdem.
can then match the milliAmp plate of each phase.

I have no tracer curves and I would love to have one.

the transformers that are used all the poormankit.

that's why we insist that a project is not serious.
gives me a little ashamed to expose it  :-[ , but maybe leave some of the genius is in this forum and can make some interesting adjustments.

new track  with my monsterchild  listen  the snare

thank you very much.
is very impressive the effect produced on the snare drum.
I'll get a blend "raw" to see the difference.
the drummer does not hit really hard.
even we were making comparisons with "Distressor" and it's great but the "monster-child" has something more ...
