That's actually a great donor idea(y)

I was expecting to have to do some fabrication work to either make new saddles or drill and tap the Flat 47's to work with the existing saddles since this is such an odd situation of having one capsule mounted on top of the other. Fortunately all the mounting holes lined up perfectly and I was able to simply screw the Flat 47s into the old mounts. The whole transplant took less than an hour. The only minor issue is that there is a little offset since the 797 capsules had separate back-plates for each half and the Flat 47s mounting holes are centered. I suppose in theory this asymmetry could effect figure 8 response, but I'm not too worried.

there was damage to one of the smaller flat k47 cartons. nobody's orders are getting delayed because this batch was huge, but instead of having 50 further units in stock after doing all the preorders and replacements, i might only have more like 10 or 15. Production of the next batch should be done march 10th or so.

A couple of new Flat 47s in my Studio Projects LSD2. Hopefully I'll get a chance to put it through the paces soon.

I have stock Studio Projects B1 mics and one modified to sound like a hybrid between the U87 and TLM103 with the original pink 797 capsule, radio ready I'd say. The stock ones, as you know, have the classic Smile frequency response, on some acoustic sources they sound good.
The shape of the head basket would suit a K47 type capsule better than the K87. The circuit has LoCut with 2 frequencies, the hype on the treble can tame it. Nice circuit, similar to TLM103 with quality parts. Low noise <12 dBa.
What would an Arienne Flat K47 capsule sound like? (or Arienne K87?)

Got the Flat47 today and decided to swap it with a duplicate Blue B8 capsule I have (that cap will end up in a cheap 251 clone). Popped it on the Bottle and it's rocking! Here's what it looks like in it's new home, and some audio clips below (with B7 and B8 for comparison).

I also have a Studio Projects CS1stock in my mic locker.
Excellent microphone, circuit with quality parts, low noise (10dBa), LoCut, HiCut and Pad in 4 steps each. The capsule appears similar to that of the SP C1, 797 style K67, but it seems to me that it has a larger diameter. Maybe 35mm. It is pink in color. The microphone is really a real monster (actually it's a multi-microphone😁)
It sounds very good, on almost any source. Among the most versatile microphones. I didn't need to modify it.
My only minor gripe was the shape of the lollipop headbasket.
Maybe the capsule is cramped and forms an unwanted resonance cavity, maybe no reflections are created and it's ok.
It is difficult for me to objectively assess the influence on the sound of the capsule compared to other more commonly used forms, with which I have experimented more. I did not take measurements.
What do you say, which capsule should I experiment with in CS1?

Arienne K87
or
Arienne Flat K47 ?

If you go k47 the HF filtering options would get unusable, as they would render mic too dark. Since you have variable HF attenuation i don't think Ari's k87 would be an improvement either. IMHO i wouldn't touch those mics, leave them as they are. Headbasket is fine.

I remember Ari saying that the flat K47 doesn‘t match the Studio Projects headbasket that well.
Hasn't really to do with this exact k47. This headbasket of these dimensions creates a dip in high midrange, not typical for k47 based mics. Not at that exact frequency. But on the other hand the same happens with k87. However, in combination with just right capsule, maybe even stock one you get c800g kind of vibe. But if you go for u87 sound that headbasket won't work either.

That's what I thought until now, that's why I didn't change it.
👍
But what if with Arienne k87 it becomes even better? Variable HF attenuation (possibly slightly modified) would perhaps, in theory, provide a response between U87ai and u67.

Well if the graph you posted is right, you can get that response with the stock capsule. Since the circuit isn't either u87, or u67 it would be kinda shame to "waste" accurate capsule. You would be left with extra capsule from 797 that would need another mic with variable HF tuning to bring it towards proper response, and you'd be chasing your tail. But that's just my thinking YMMV.
