I have an early serial # 0143 that is exhibiting what appears to have been a common problem, based upon my current internet searching. This microphone has a small toggle switch which can change between V mode and I mode = vocal or instrument. We pulled it out of the locker to use on the bottom rotor of a Leslie 122 for a session the other day and, in I mode, there was little to no signal passing and a lot of crackling, sputtering noise. No problem in V mode. Toggling swiftly back and forth to perhaps clear some intermittent connection on the toggle switch had little to no effect so we changed out the mic to get through the session. Later on, I injected some DeOxit into the toggle switch and worked it back and forth. This seemed to help a little bit, but results were not conclusive. I have not yet attempted to actually disassemble the mic for further repairs.
Any suggestions for continued repair attempts, short of sending the mic out to someone?

Maybe @bockaudio could help?

I had one of these for repair. It was a bad switch, i have to *** Bock for service support, they never answered what the switch model was so i had to spend some time searching for replacement.

It was this one.
T201MH9ABE
C&K Toggle Switches

Also the two tiny pf value styroflex caps were bad, so worth checking.

Other than that, it's an amazing microphone.

If this is the one that switches between fet47 and km84 circuits, are there two jfets both connected to the capsule or is there some kind of switching that swaps the jfet between the two circuits?

Thanks very much for your help. I guess I will try repair myself, before sending it out. I appreciate the info.

Just check if the two pF styro caps are sitting well on the board. With the one i had the body of the caps just fell off the leads when i checked if they were sitting firmly on the board.

Just to check if the forum is now auto censored, i wrote ***, and it replaced the word with ***. Maybe it's a dirty word, non-native English speaker here.

Edit:
Yup, definitely auto censoring.
Let me try with vaccine, ***, stab, vax.
Nope. It just doesnt like the word *j*a*b*.

I would check that the switch is making contact to the circuit properly and that nothing has worked its way loose or out of alignment.

Mouser has that switch in stock, so I just ordered one. Should be here in a couple of days. Thanks again
