Hi everyone! I'm tinkering with building a few specialized, custom pencil mics for use in cinematography/camera work.
I KNOW I can grab cheapie mics off Ali and gut them, but that seems like a waste. I'd like not to throw more electronics in the landfill than I have to, especially if I end up making a handful of these every now and then for my work.

Anybody got a line on some decent, cheap pencil bodies?

MUCH appreciated! ^_^

..for a pencil mic body, I'd think that the most important parameter would be its integration into the capsule chosen. In that light ain't it counterproductive to source the body separately from the capsule?

In this case no. I can machine/modify the body to accept whatever capsule I source for the project, if it doesn't fit by default. But I see what you mean. I take it having some tube milled/cut is probably my best bet here, huh?

Have you explored common copper pipe/fittings?
