I don't like to repeat bad news about covid since mainstream media is so good at that, but I have been paying some attention to the Chinese and Russian vaccines.

Seychelles has vaccinated a higher fraction of its population than any other country and still struggles with a covid outbreak raising effectiveness questions about the Chinese vaccine administered to the majority of its 110,000 residents. That their health systems are now overwhelmed is unexpected with some 60% of the population vaccinated. 38,000 were vaccinated with the Sinopharm vaccine (Chinese state owned). The reminder received astraZeneca vaccine produced in India. According to the health ministry 1/3 of the new cases are in vaccinated people. There are no hard numbers about which vaccine was used by the sick patients.

I see no reason to question the effectiveness of current vaccines being used in the west.

Here in Ireland the health service executive has had to shut down its IT systems countrywide due to a group of hackers trying to extort money . A HSE spokesperson was in quick to state no ones data was compromised and no demands for money had been received . So now the IT system used for people to book covid vaccinations is also offline it looks like chaos is about to ensue . The governments record on data protection here is abysmal , now public confidence is about to take another hit by the looks .

I'm not so sure that that should be unexpected. The "raw" R-rate of Sars-CoV-2 is above 8 (compare with seasonal Influenza R-rate of about 1.3, or Ebola with about 1.7). Hence, a 60% vaccination take-up is not enough, by quite a large margin, even with a 90%+ vaccine efficacy. I already posted a link to a paper from the Lancet in this thread along these lines.

R0 isn't necessarily so scary - for Measles is about 10 to 12. But we keep people with measles away from other people for a reason, even though the mortality rate from it these days is pretty low.

I read about this as well. The latest item of interest is the New York Yankees. They've had eight "breakthrough" infections this week. All those who were infected had had the J&J vaccine. I haven't yet seen info on which variant it might be (and MLB does in fact keep track of these things), but it'll be interesting to see. It's not necessarily an unexpected occurrence, but it certainly merits study.

Black mold (fungus) is everywhere.... I had a problem in my house from a leaking toilet cut off valve. The human immune system will prevent black mold from getting established inside people's bodies. I have heard anecdotally about a few nasty isolated cases from people with compromised immune systems getting black mold colonies in their lungs.

I heard one TV doctor explain the India fungus situation being related to a combination of India's medical system collapsing under the stress from Covid outbreak, with a diabetic (overweight?) population with compromised immune system, and for the icing on the cake over prescription of steroids, that suppress immune response. Certainly a bad situation for those individuals, but not an immediate concern for western populations (IMO).

The latest thing here in Ireland is they are to begin sampling sewage waste water to try and get better stats for prevalence and which variants are doing the rounds in the communities .

I just wonder if the results would be correctly reported , lets say the powers that be do their do-doo experiment but it finds unsurprisingly much higher rates of drink, drugs and prescription meds in poorer areas .
The Swiss I believe did similar tests on mountaintop ski resort villages , when they did the metrics it turned out there was enough cocaine metabolites in the water for everyone to have consumed several grams.

Think!

Calculations like that can't be done with any sufficient precision. At best you can say "consumption is going up", or "consumption is going down". And that even only on scale of at least a few years time.

When it rains, results are diluted. Sure, you can account for rainfall, but it's a rough approximation. What happens in a small place like a ski resort when one dealer is forced to flush a kilo of coke down the toilet? Etc.

Don't misunderstand me. These measurements are valuable. That's why we even keep the samples in Europe. But the press always seems able to pinpoint one sentence that's clickbait. And wrong.

We shouldn't worry about Pfizer's profits, it seems. Pfizer pays zero percent taxes on their billion dollar worldwide profit, according to the Dutch site ftm.nl. FTM is financed by their members and it stands for "follow the money".

Using The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Ireland and Delaware, Pfizer keeps all it's money in tax havens. That's including the profits it makes from selling the vaccin.

Previously known primarily as the producer of Viagra, Pfizer has tapped into gold.
Pfizer and BioNTech were the first to market their vaccine, and there are no questions about side effects - unlike some competitors - as yet. In the first three months of this year, the company saw its revenue increase 42 percent to $ 14.6 billion. That is good for all of us, Marc Kaptein, director of Pfizer Netherlands, reported in an open letter in the Volkskrant. He says the company has invested $ 2 billion in the development of the vaccine. Pfizer and BioNTech expect to sell 21 billion euros worth of vaccines by 2021. The profit margin on that amount is "high in your twenties", according to Pfizer. At 25 percent, the profit would amount to more than 5.2 billion euros.

What I find a curious coincidence is that here in Ireland ( Im not sure about other places) Viagra has suddenly become available over the counter without prescription . That'll surely swell profits as well as other things 😄

Just got vaccinated with the Chinese CanSino vaccine, it is a one time dose which is a good thing but I've heard that the side effects can be quite nasty. I'll report back...

Good luck, mixed reports about some Chinese vaccines, but that one reportedly delivers 65% effectiveness.

JR
John, what I've read is that it is 65% effective against mild cases, but I've read in many places that it is around 90% effective for severe cases, so the point is that is very effective to prevent you from dying but you can still get COVID.

COVID-19 vaccines | Grupo Médico Costamed

Look at the bottom of the webpage

I didn't have any reactions, besides some headache, but very minor, however, some friends have a high fever, trembing of the hands, and so on. They were vaccinated in a different section, I don't know if the vaccine batch made a difference.

Individual immune systems are different and can respond more strongly or weakly. The whole concept of vaccines is to get you a little sick, so different people get more or less of "a little" sick.

I had a case of "Moderna arm" and was a little worried until a web search revealed it was common enough to already be named.

I love (hate?) the modern internet. So much data, some true, some.... you know.

I just read that half of the trial subjects for the chineese vaccine were mexican, I have a feeling we are being treated as guinea pigs...

Every one of the vaccines is still in trial phases. Hence the EUA.
The vaccination coercion that the governments around the world are trying to outsource onto the private sector because the optics of men with guns forcing medical experiments historically has been a bad look (Nuremberg Code)

Further, if you've recovered from a SARS infection you are eligible to donate blood for the convalescent plasma. If you are recovered and vaccinated you are NO LONGER ELIGIBLE to donate the convalescent plasma per RedCross.

"Individuals who have received a COVID-19 vaccine are not able to donate convalescent plasma with the Red Cross."
https://www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/dlp/coronavirus--covid-19--and-blood-donation.html

The omission of serology and natural immunity (there are studies) is a clear signal (to me) that they're pushing vaccines instead of health.
How many hundreds of thousands were infected and either recovered or were asymptomatic, and yet they're pushing these experimental EUA vaccines on EVERYONE?

Forgive me, I'm gonna go hard on this topic. So if I offend you I apologize in advance. Best wishes everyone.

The covid politics thread I started to improve the S/N of Vaccine news has rolled off (down ten pages covid politics )

Indeed Politicians will twist themselves into pretzels trying to take credit anything positive.

China has aggressively tried to get approved in multiple countries, often by providing free vaccine doses for trials.

China offered free vaccines for international Japanese olympic athletes (as long as they approved Vac in home countries. Japan declined). Now it appears two different western Vaccine makers are offering jabs for Olympic athletes at Japan Olympics (IIRC Pfizer and Biontech).
