This isn't directly related to COVID, but it might show why some assumptions that we and the scientific community make, could be wrong:

I only stumbled upon this article because I'm interested in parasites. The classical scientific thinking about parasites have proven to be wrong in most cases. "Symbionts" would be a far more precise word to classify these organisms. I've been following fi toxoplasmosis for decades. It's always been seen that the only ways to get toxoplasmosis is by eating raw meat, or through cat excrements, which you should encounter while gardening. A recent study in The Netherlands found that the disease can be transmitted sexually.

The relation to COVID should be clear: we don't know all pathways into the human body. There is no sound explanation how some animal species got infected.

There's also a small history lesson about how the first vaccine was found by Pasteur. I didn't know that and it's interesting, at least.

I don't know how well-versed you are, but for someone new to the field of study I'd highly recommend the book Parasite Rex--sort of a pop science overview of the field. I found it fascinating.

Sorry for veering off topic, John.

The J&J vaccine is back in the news for getting suspended. I suspect the practical reasons are that we have enough alternatives with no imflammatory side effects. {/speculation]

What many of us have been saying for the last two years...

Here's the source on page 3: https://www.walgreens.com/businesssolutions/covid-19-index.jsp

OK - all together now - scream "conspiracy theory!"

" All results, including the positivity rates by vaccination status graph, are unadjusted. The team has observed that the positivity rates among unvaccinated individuals seen on the bar graph appear to be lower in comparison to vaccinated individuals. Furthermore, repeat testing among those who were previously positive in the last 90 days appear to confound the results. The team conducted additional analyses examining characteristics of the patient population by vaccination status and the impact of excluding recent COVID-19 cases (5.0% of total tests). Findings show that the unvaccinated group are typically younger and healthier, less symptomatic and less likely to report direct COVID-19 exposure or recent travel compared to vaccinated groups. Controlling for recent COVID-19 cases, results show that the unvaccinated group has a 17.1% higher positivity rate compared to the 3-dose group. Controlling for additional factors leads to a larger difference between groups."

There goes the s/n for this thread too.

Wayne is not obviously breaking any forum rules by sharing information he thinks is relevant, it only became contentious when people disagreed with his conclusions.

I am guilty of lowering the civility by characterizing the exchange as trolling, mea culpa.

Wayne still has plenty of valuable experience in audio electronics to share.

I will try to be more civil myself.

If you can't be bothered to check the source for the fake news you post, you're at least guilty of laziness.
If you use that fake news to support your bias, you're also not very clever. Just a casual look at that website should make it very clear that they're not even amateur journalists. For a moment, I wondered if that site was an Onion sister site. Sadly, it isn't.

Meanwhile, the news that's very important, at least in my mind, got drowned.

If UC Louvain can validate their discovery through tests, it will render every Covid vaccine obsolete. It will work for every mutation of Corona and it might even work for other virii in the Corona group.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics...

How many not vaccinated people routinely test themselves?

JR
How many asymptomatic people get tested? The only people who get regularly tested are healthcare workers and hypochondriacs. Others who have potential symptoms might get tested. The whole statistical basis is nearly worthless because of these factors. Much like counting "cases" was only useful to induce fearful obedience.

Cyrano, is there an English translation of the paper you linked?
