Just finished building a D67 with Ariennes K87 (and Moby BV12), I recorded some quick clips with it and my Neumann U87ai. Ariennes capsule sounds awesome!

I read your original post and you might have to reconsider. Keep in mind that it’s not a true apples to apples comparison because of the different circuits (67 vs 87ai).

@soliloqueen sent me two of her k87 to compare with original Neumann's k67 and k87. TLDR all four capsules measure exactly the same in every aspect also capacitance values. They are indistinguishable.

I have a prototype Arienne Audio K87 V2 in an 87 clone mic and I find it to be ridiculously great. I've used this mic on a TON of bookings the last 3 weeks and it's just perfect on everything. I couldn't be happier with it.

I have no doubt this capsule will blow your socks off when you get one.

I have a prototype Arienne Audio K87 V2 in an 87 clone mic and I find it to be ridiculously great. I've used this mic on a TON of bookings the last 3 weeks and it's just perfect on everything. I couldn't be happier with it.

some caveats: the engraving probably won't stay. the silicone wire they had in stock at the outlet in these colors was too thick, will source thinner ones for the production run. The rings are also upside-down. long story. The machine shop also pulled back a bit on the groove around the electrode surface for the very first batch since they're still testing what's feasible at volume:


which i expected. Still, it sounded exactly as intended once we cobbled it together, so no harm done. wordsushi's is the first ever assembled prototype and has a higher capacitance and different tension. This is the first that has all of the "final" technicals locked in so I'm excited to show you guys!

These are still in R&D right now.

V1 overall sounds right but the treble is slightly different. The V2 is indistinguishable

Will try out V2 for sure but I could happily live with V1.

By the way: clips 1 and 3 I uploaded are the Neumann U87Ai, 2 and 4 the D67 with Ariennes K87 capsule.
